Lissa's Bridal Shower
My younger sister Lissa is getting married in May in Baja and yesterday her soon to be sister's-in-law and I threw her a bridal shower. Since she is getting married in Mexico, the theme was a Mexican Fiesta.
I made the invitations to look like passports (this also seemed to fit into the overall travel theme her and her fiancé Paul, as flight attendants, seem to live by).
Shower Passport Invitation
Since the shower was going to be at my house I cleared out my living room and rented tables, chairs, china, silverware, linens and serving stuff. For the food we decided to have a Mexican buffet. I made shredded chicken and slow-cooked beef for a burrito bar, heated up some taquitos and beans as sides and threw in some chips, salsa, and guacamole for snack items. Dessert was a chocolate fountain with fruit and churros to dip into it. And Heather and Megan made the most amazing lime cake ever!
Heather and Megan also made great decorations, including tissue flowers, papel picado and pointy star hangy-things.

For games I came up with 20 questions to ask Paul, and then at the shower asked Lissa the same questions to see how many she could match to Paul's answers. She did pretty well!
20 Questions Game
I also made up a sheet with Spanish words on it and had everyone try and figure out the English translations. I was impressed with how well people did.
Spanish Translations Game
After we ate and played games we moved into the family room where Lissa opened gifts. I also had a slideshow playing on the TV of photos of Lissa and her Paul from birth to the present.

For favors Heather made adorable lime shaped cookies. Everyone thought they looked great and they tasted pretty good too.
Lime Cookie Shower Favors
I think the day went well, even if I constantly felt like I was running around doing something (I hope no one noticed). And it was great to see everyone.
