16 Week Ultrasound - It's a Boy!
The results of our Nuchal Translucency Screening came back with an increased risk for Down syndrome (1 out of 182) so we decided to do a level II ultrasound at 16 weeks on August 28. The ultrasound revealed two things:
1) The nuchal reading hadn't changed.
2) Our baby is a boy!
16 Week Ultrasound of Baby Boy Nyquist - It's a boy - The arrow in the 2nd image points to the proof!
Based on the nuchal reading we decided to have an Amniocentesis done. I was a little nervous, but the procedure was relatively painless and was really quick. It helped that the Dr. told me it would only take 60 seconds, so I counted to 60 to distract myself. Ian got to watch the procedure on the screen as they use an ultrasound to make sure they don't poke the baby wth the needle.
Since there is a risk of miscarriage with an Amnio I've been resting these last couple of days and basically just taking it easy. We should have the Amnio results back in about two weeks.
